تاریخ سد سازی ایرانیان
احداث اولین سد جهان در ایران باستان بود

سد سازي تا قبل از هخامنشيان
سد سازي يا بند سازي از فعاليت هاي مهندسي به شمار مي رود كه شرايط تاريخي و جغرافيايي خاص مناطق در پيدايش ،شكل گيري و گسترش آن سهم به سزايي دارند. در گذشته و در هر منطقه خاص جغرافيايي بنابر ضرورت يا نياز ساكنين آن جا نسبت به ايجاد سد،بند يا آبگير اقدام مي كرده اند تا نيازهاي خود در زمينه آبياري و آبرساني را مرتفع سازند. در مناطقي نيز به خاطر پايين بودن سطح آبهاي رودخانه ها يا نياز جهت تغيير مسير رود ، سد سازي انجام مي گرفته تا بتوانند سطح آب را بالا آورده و براي نيازهاي كشاورزي و عمراني از آن استفاده كنند.................

در طرح سازه های بلند اخیرا ایده جدیدی ارائه شده است که موسوم به سیستم لوله ای می باشد. در حال حاضر در چهار مورد از پنج ساختمانی که بلندترین ساختمان های دنیا می باشند از این روش استفاده شده است. این ساختمان ها عبارتند از، ساختمان هنکاک برج سیرز و ساختمان استاندارد اویل در شیکاگو و ساختمان مرکز تجارت دنیا در نیویورک . بازده سازه ای سیستم های لوله ای به قدری زیاد می باشدکه در اکثر موارد مقدار مصالح سازه ای مصرف شده برای هر فوت مربع کف (یا سقف) قابل مقایسه با مقدار مصالح مصرف شده در ساختمان های قابی متداول به ارتفاع نصف می باشد.

اهمیت اثر نیروی جانبی با بالا رفتن ارتفاع ساختمان با سرعت زیادی افزایش می یابد. در ارتفاع معینی تغییر مکان جانبی ساختمان چنان زیاد می شود که ملاحظات سختی کنترل کننده طرح می گردند تا اینکه مقاومت مصالح سازه ای . درجه سختی اساسا بستگی به نوع سیستم سازه دارد . بعلاوه بازده هر سیستم خاصی مستقیما با مقدار مصالح مصرف شده ارتباط دارد.بنابراین از بهینه کردن سازه برای شرایط فضایی معینی باید با حداقل وزن حداکثر سختی حاصل شود . این عمل منجربه ابداع سیستم های سازه ای مناسب برای حدود ارتفاعات معین میگردد. بعضی از عواملی که در توسعه این سیستم های تازه نقش مهمی داشته اند عبارتند از:

cesar pelli كه به سبب طراحي تعدادي از بلندترين برجهاي جهان و نيز تعداد زيادي از پروژه هاي شهري شناخته شده است در 12 اكتبر 1926 در San Miguel de Tucuman در آرژانتين متولد شد .
در سال 1952 به امريكا مهاجرت كرد و نيز در سال 1964 به به تابعيت ايالات متحده در آمد.

با اینکه به نظر می رسد پل های کابلی به آینده چشم دوخته اند، ایده آن ها مسیر طولانی را پیموده است. اولین طرح شناخته شده از یک پل کابلی در کتابی به نام "ماشین های نووا" - منتشر شده در سال 1595 - آورده شده ولی این ایده تا قرن حاضر که مهندسان شروع به استفاده از پل های کابلی نمودند؛ مورد استقبال واقع نشده بود. در جنگ جهانی دوم که فولاد کمیاب بود، این طرح برای بازسازی پل های بمباران شد که هنوز فوندانسیون هایشان پابرجاست، کامل بود. با اینکه از احداث پل های کابلی در آمریکا دیری نمی گذرد، واکنش ها در این مورد بسیار مثبت بوده است
